I have 9 tanks being heated with the7.5 watt heaters and I& 039;ve, personally, never had a problem with them. If, however, you can find a 25 watt heater with temp adjustable controls, then go with that. A 25 watt will not overheat a 3-4 gallon tank as long as you have the controler adjusted correctly. 3 weeks ago Source(s): betta breeder 1 Rating: Good Answer 0 Rating: Bad Answer Report It Asker's Rating: Asker's Comment: . 0 stars - mark this as Interesting! Ill not be better for him to have less water to dilute his wastes - more is preferable, of course. The water should be kept warm using an aquarium heater. Since I'm still not sure how large his enclosure is, I can't recommend one, but a 25 watt heater is sufficient for a 5 gallon tank (you can buy a 25 watt heater from a pet store, just not Walmart) and anything smaller can be heated using a 7.5 watt heater that Hydor makes. Go to Google.com and type in hydor 7.5 watt heater and you'll see lots of e-tailers who sell the heater. It will let you know what to look for. I've heard of people using a heating pad to warm bowls, they just put the pad on a surface and then the bowl on top of it and crank up the heat. This probably would do for a while. To be honest, other than keeping his water very clean, adding a little salt, and maybe a soothing agent such as Melafix to the very clean water - I can't recommend much else. Two years is about the average life span for a betta, if he feels like
